BIOS
Scenic Heights has an extraordinarily talented and experienced cast of band members. As you read all about their interesting backgrounds, imagine the synergy that occurs when they get together for a evening of music. It's really a special thing. One fan recently exclaimed, "Every one of those guys on stage could be a front man in their own right." However, the reality is that each person in the band has so much respect for one another that they want each other to shine. They support one another with vocal harmonies and musicality that supports the singer and the song, not to stand out as individuals-that is, all egos are checked at the stage before every show. This band truly operates with a team spirit.

Gary Talley
Guitar/Vocals
GARY TALLEY grew up in Memphis Tennessee as the son of Charles Talley and Nita Talley. Charles is a World War II Hero and purple heart recipient. Gary tells of seeing Elvis riding around town in his Cadillac, was influenced by the groundbreaking Memphis sound of Booker T and the MGs, Steve Cropper and Reggie Young. Gary picked up excellent guitar technique from an early age. In 1967, Gary became the original lead guitarist for the Grammy-nominated group, The Box Tops. Gary is the featured guitarist on "The Letter," and "Cry Like a Baby." These songs hit the charts like a tornado, selling millions of copies, and they continue to sweep across the country on radio stations today. This was a tremendous time in Gary's young life and it took him all around the world on tour, on all the major television shows and eventually landed at Abbey Road Studios in England where he recorded in the same room as the group he competed for a Grammy over, the Beatles. After The Box Tops made their mark in music history, Gary continued his music carrier in stellar fashion performing and recording with such legends as Willie Nelson, Billy Preston, Tammy Wynette, Waylon Jennings, Suzy Bogguss, Sam Moore (Sam and Dave) and many more. Gary eventually moved to Atlanta where he played on national jingle sessions including McDonalds commercials and recorded master sessions for major label artists. He also continued to do side work with Pat Boone, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Dobie Gray, and Billy Joe Royal. A nationally renowned guitar instructor with an instructional DVD release, Gary has taught students his guitar technique around the country and overseas. Gary recently completed a musical tour of Australia and Fiji and has rejoined his original band The Box Tops at recent concerts in Memphis and Hoboken.
Bob Tucker
Drums/Percussion/Vocals
BOB TUCKER's drumming career started with pots and pans in his mom's Jersey kitchen, Ringo on Ed Sullivan, and an early set of Ludwig drums. Bob's father Sam is a drummer. His son Zack is a drummer. This family tradition placed Tuck on stage during his high school and college years. Bob eventually joined a Chicago-based touring band called Quadra and opened shows for Styx, Bob Seger, and Ted Nugent. While in college at Florida Sate in Tallahassee, Tuck was invited to play some gigs with the Allman Brother's own, Butch Trucks in Squall Dogs. They played a batch of Allman covers and jammed extensively. After college, Bob's family moved to Pensacola, FL and his career moved into the arena of high technology. But Bob always kept a healthy diet of music in his life. In fact, he and John Nanni formed a band called DJ and the Trendsetters. After a corporate, full-circle move back to Jersey, Bob started a band called The All Night Daddios. From there, Bob began to perform again with a vengeance. He begain to play drums from time to time with Wildwood in Pensacola, and John Nanni and Gary Talley in Nashville. This path led to the development of the new group Scenic Heights.
Jeff Johnson
Guitar/Flute/Vocals
JEFF JOHNSON was inspired to play guitar by the music of Jimi Hendrix, Django Reinhardt, Duane Allman, Jeff Beck and the Beatles. Jeff has always been a disciplined student of the instrument, practicing for hours a day and learning the nuances of every song that he would perform. He's has played guitar with a number of great musicians over the years, including Peggy Scott, Lazy Day, The Great Pretenders, Mighty Sam, Wildwood and Captain Tight, just to name a few. Jeff plays with tremendous emotion and adds something unique to every song he performs. He's got an excellent voice for lead or harmony, and is a positive force on stage with a great sense humor and style. It's easy for the crowd to pick up on Jeff's positive and sometimes quirky, but always entertaining energy.
John Nanni
Keyboards/Percussion/Vocals
A accomplished songwriter and producer, JOHN NANNI was a passionate performer since high school in Pensacola, FL where he performed an original song for his senior project at Woodham High School and made and "A". John has worked in the studio and on stage with many of Nashville's top pros including the likes of Larry Hanson (Alabama), Rick Lonow (Grammy winner with June Carter ), Buddy Jewell, Mike Chapman (Garth Brooks), Bob Hatter (Keith Anderson), Gene Rabbai, Peter Young (Loretta Lynn) and Dow Tomlin (Brooks and Dunn/Sugarland). Having been raised by music-loving parents, DENNIS GOSSMAN lived and breathed the music of his youth from the radio, 45’s and albums.
